Use the flashcards to talk about whether you think the following make good pets.
We all love animals. At least, a certain kind of animal. Some of you may like dogs but dislike cats. Some of you may like snakes but dislike birds. Whatever your favorite animal, you’ve probably thought about keeping one as a pet, if you haven’t already.
Pets can be great company and can bring happiness to your home. They can also bring your family closer together by loving and taking care of your pet.
However, it’s always important to remember that pets are living creatures, and that they can feel happiness, fear, anger, and many other emotions we feel. So, you should always think carefully about what animal you choose when looking to get a new pet.
Dogs are usually very energetic and need lots of exercise, so if you plan to get a dog you have to be someone who has the time and energy to take your pet on walks or play with them.
If you are not very athletic, prefer being inside often, or have to leave your house for long periods of time, maybe cats are for you. Cats usually don’t need that much attention and are a perfect pet for people who just don’t have the time to play often.
If you love looking at animals, but don’t really want to interact with them, maybe fish are a good choice for you. Fish in an aquarium are very pretty to look at. They also don’t need a lot of work to take care of. Just keep their tank clean and give them food.
There are still many different kinds of pets for you to choose from. In the end, it’s important to think about what kind of animal you like, what kind of animal you have time for, and what kind of animal would enjoy living with you.
It’s like choosing a new roommate. You should make sure everyone is happy.
