Frank: Happy Valentines Day, My Love. I hope you like the gifts I bought you.
Mindy: Oh, Sweetheart, you know I love flowers and they are so beautiful.
The earrings are beautiful. I’m going to put them on right now.
Frank: Oh, and don’t forget to read the card. I went to a lot of effort choosing it. And I wrote a poem for you.
Mindy: Oh. I love it. The message is so romantic. The poem is incredible. So, here is your gift. I hope you like it too.
Frank: Aw, you shouldn’t have My Love. A box of chocolates, and my favorite type. Now, let me open the card. What’s this inside it? A restaurant voucher- wonderful! Let’s go there for dinner tonight. I’ll make reservations right now.
Mindy: I’m glad you like it Darling. That French restaurant is very romantic so I thought it would be a wonderful place to share Valentine’s Day with my favorite person.
Frank: I agree totally. Thank you for making this day so special, and one to remember. I love you.

Teacher: Do you know what a term of endearment is? A term of endearment is a common way to address a romantic partner, both male and female.
These nicknames are fun and playful ways to express your feelings for your partner.
Western people love to express their feelings. Girlfriends and boyfriends, husbands and wives have many affectionate nicknames for each other.
Let’s look at some of the most common nicknames.
Many men refer to their significant other as “Beautiful”
“Gorgeous” can be used by both men and women.
Other common ones that you might hear are:
Remember, these names are most commonly used in situations that people are in a romantic relationship. You shouldn’t call someone you just met, “sweetheart” or “babe”. However, some people use them in a joking way.
Some old-fashioned names include “dear, darling, and doll”. You might hear those ones in movies and between older people.
Of course, many people also make up their own nicknames. People often invent names that are based on food, like “muffin, sugar, lamb chop or cupcake”.
I do caution you though… You shouldn’t use these kinds of nicknames if you do not know if the person you are speaking to will be comfortable on the receiving end of them. You also should not use these words in a school, work or professional setting.
