ESL Conversation about April Fool’s Day
Yumi: What’s the matter Bob?
Why are you crying? Are you okay?
Bob: No, not at all. (whimpering)
Yumi: What’s wrong? How can I help you?
Bob: Mindy and I broke up.
It’s over! She broke my heart.
She is leaving tomorrow to Hawaii … to elope with one of her co-workers.
I can’t believe this is happening to me. It’s the worst day of my life.
Yumi: Oh my god!
I’m so sorry Bob. I don’t know what to say. I’m speechless.
Bob: Yeah, I don’t know what I’m going to do without her.
She’s everything to me. I’m nothing without her.
Yumi: Everything will be alright Bob. You are a good-looking guy.
You have lots of friends, a great job …and a bright future.
Bob: Haha! Haha! (laughing hysterically)
Yumi: Bob, what you are you laughing about? What’s so funny?
Bob: I’m only joking Yumi. April fools! Haha! Haha!
Yumi: What? What do you mean? You were joking?
You were pulling my leg that whole time? You … I can’t believe it.
Bob: I got you though, didn’t I?
Thanks for saying those nice things about me though.
It’s nice to know what you think about me. Especially that you think I’m good looking! I really appreciate it.
Yumi: I’m not impressed.
Ouch! I think I broke my ankle. Moaning sound
Bob: Oh my God!
Are you okay? I’m so sorry, it’s my fault.
Yumi: Got ya! April fools Bob!
